Learning Objectives

  1. Demonstrate the ability to accurately diagnose and recommend appropriate treatment for patients with infections caused by nontuberculous mycobacteria.
  2. Understand current epidemiologic infectious disease trends and issues affecting the state of Minnesota in 2007.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the current varicella vaccine, the appropriate populations for immunizations, this vaccine's uses, effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the human papillomavirus vaccine, the appropriate populations for immunizations, this vaccine's uses, effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
  5. Understand the state of our current knowledge of the HIV and the treatment of HIV in the third decade of this epidemic.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of current concepts about HIV transmission and efforts to prevent HIV transmission through microbicides and medical treatments.
