PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS: Safety Hypodermic Needle

BD® SafetyGlide™ is uniquely designed to provide a simple, single-handed solution to hypodermic safety. A single finger stroke securely shields the needletip immediately after injection. The product is easy to use and requires no change in injection technique as demonstrated by clinical studies on file at Becton Dickinson.

BD® SafetyGlide™ consists of BD® PrecisionGlide™ needle, patented Activation-Assist™ technology for fast and easy needletip shielding, a stainless steel latch that securely shields the needletip after activation, and a Luer-Lok® connection that securely attaches the BD® SafetyGlide™ needle to any standard syringe. For user convenience, the needle "bevel-tip" position is oriented to the lever arm to facilitate low angle injections. The spreadth of line includes 22G 1-1/2", 25G 5/8", and 23G 1" sizes in "needle only" format. Needles packaged with different syringe combinations are also available.

The B-D® SafetyGlide™ Shielding Hypodermic Needle has applications
in hospitals and alternate sites for healthcare workers concerned with the
potential danger of needlesticks associated with percutaneous procedures
such as IM and SubQ injections.

These procedures account for over 18% of all disposal-related sharp object
injuries (EPINet™ data on file at Becton Dickinson). B-D® SafetyGlide™ can
help reduce these needlestick injuries and the associated costs a customized
cost analysis is available as part of Becton Dickinson's Cost Reduction Initiative
(CRI
sm) program.
